Midsummer-Tournament

On 1 July 2025, the Burgfeld Sports Ground hosted this year's Midsummer Tournament, where exciting matches, a fantastic atmosphere, and true sportsmanship took centre stage.

Following team registration from 4:30 p.m., the tournament officially kicked off at 5:40 p.m. with thrilling volleyball and 3x3 basketball matches. Teams of five players, made up of participants from a wide range of University Sports courses—from recreational players to ambitious amateur athletes—competed throughout the evening.

The matches were supported by a dedicated organising team, who ensured everything ran smoothly while also providing music and refreshments for players and spectators alike.

A total of 11 teams took part, drawing inspiration from summer hits and refreshing summer drinks. With creative team names such as Beach Beine Po, Murder on the Beachcourt, and Aperol-Swish, they brought a touch of summer fun before the first whistle had even blown, raising plenty of smiles among spectators. Throughout the tournament, the atmosphere was cheerful, relaxed, and full of sporting ambition, with many participants enthusiastically cheering on other teams when they were not playing themselves.

After an evening of closely contested matches, the winning teams were announced at around 9:00 p.m.

In the volleyball tournament, Team Medibande claimed first place after winning five of their six matches and finishing with 87 points.
In the 3x3 basketball competition, Team Long Island Layups delivered a flawless performance, winning all four of their matches and finishing at the top of the standings with 84 points.

Congratulations to all participating teams, and thank you for making this tournament such a memorable event. We are already looking forward to welcoming you back for the next tournament.
A special thank you goes to our organising team, everyone who supported the event behind the scenes, and our course instructors, who enthusiastically encouraged participants from their classes to take part. Without your commitment, this tournament would not have been possible.
