Campus Run and Summer Festival 2026: Sport, Music and Community on Campus

Lübeck, 24. Juni 2026
During the 2026 Campus Run and the subsequent Summer Festival, the campus of the University of Lübeck became a vibrant meeting place for students, staff, alumni, and guests. With bright sunshine and summery temperatures, the focus was not only on athletic achievements but, above all, on sharing a memorable experience together.
Interest in the event was high well before race day. The relay competition, in particular, proved to be extremely popular. As a result, the campus was already buzzing with activity long before the starting signal. Following a joint warm-up led by university sports instructor Antje Sommer, participants prepared themselves for the various races.

In total, around 280 runners took part. Participants could choose between the 5 km and 10 km races, as well as the popular 4 × 2.5 km relay event. Despite temperatures reaching around 30°C, the atmosphere along the course remained highly motivated. Numerous spectators cheered on the runners, while the samba group Banda Ge provided an extra boost of energy during the final stretch.
The relay races once again demonstrated what the Campus Run is all about for many participants: being active together. Teams from institutes, departments, and university facilities took the opportunity to come together outside of their everyday work environment.

For many, the competition was about much more than just finishing time. The award for the most creative relay baton once again sparked plenty of conversations and smiles among spectators along the course.
While runners competed for every second on the course, the grounds surrounding the Summer Festival gradually filled with visitors. Food trucks, activity booths, and seating areas created numerous opportunities for people to meet, reconnect, and enjoy conversations.
The band “The Questionnaires” provided the evening's live music, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere across the campus.

There were also some outstanding athletic performances. In the women's 5 km race, Johanna Schulz claimed victory with a time of 19:28 minutes, while Armin Hösch won the men's race in 17:14 minutes.
In the 10 km event, Frederike Felizitas Jung finished first in the women's category with a time of 42:40 minutes. Christoph Köhler secured victory in the men's race with a finishing time of 36:51 minutes.
The relay competition was won by the team “Dauer(B)Renner,” followed by “Möhren die besseren Gewinnen” in second place and “GiG – Gewinnen ist Geil” in third.

“We congratulate all of the winners and are delighted that so many runners took part despite the high temperatures,” said Katrin Bührmann, Head of University Sports.

The smooth running of the event, despite the summer heat, was made possible thanks to the dedication of numerous volunteers. Water stations along the route, medical support, and the behind-the-scenes organization ensured that both participants and visitors felt safe and well looked after.
With its combination of sport, community, and culture, the Campus Run and the University of Lübeck Summer Festival once again demonstrated the importance of shared events for campus life. For many, the day continued long after the last runner had crossed the finish line, with conversations, live music, and a warm summer evening enjoyed together on campus.

We are already looking forward to another fantastic event next year!
